This French Toast is super easy, and one of the tastiest holiday treats you can make. Grab your leftover eggnog and let’s get cooking!
French Toast with your leftover eggnog!
I learned how to make French Toast from my father when I was 8 or 9 years old. The recipe was pretty simple, easy enough to make for myself or a few people. He doesn’t use that recipe anymore. At some point while staring down a pitcher of leftover eggnog sitting in the fridge, and unsure what to do with it all, it occurred to him to just make French Toast with it. The ingredients are pretty similar, though somewhat heavier. It worked, and now he makes a small eggnog batch (without actually whipping up the meringue or cream) and uses that. So the next time you have some eggnog on hand, give this one a whirl. You won’t be sorry.
What do you need for eggnog French Toast?
Not much at all.
- 3 cups eggnog
- 8 slices of hearty bread (I used Challah)
- 4 tbsp butter
How do you make it?
Super easy. Really, it doesn’t get much easier than this one.
Step 1: Make some eggnog (or buy it 😉), but really, try this recipe out!
Step 2: Dip your bread in the eggnog for 10-15 seconds. I left my bread out overnight so that it got a little bit stale, this helps keep it from falling apart.
Step 3: Melt 1 tbsp of butter on your griddle, cook the French Toast until it is browned on both sides (2-3 minutes a side).
Step 4: serve with butter and maple syrup!
