These Butterscotch Maple Cookies are simple to make, and melt in your mouth! Perfect for baking with the kids!
I was looking for an easy cookie recipe to make with the kids this weekend. One that didn’t require too many ingredients, but would have that extra note of something.
It’s no secret that my kids will get on board with any chance to add more maple syrup to their lives, so I used that as a starting point and went from there.
What do you need for these Maple Cookies?
- 1/2 cup Butter – softened
- 1/2 cup Shortening
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 2 Tbsp maple sugar (if you can’t find this, sub dark brown sugar)
- 1/3 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tsp Baking Powder
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sage (this adds a savory note, if you don’t have it the cookies will still be good)
- 3 egg yolks
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- 2 cups flour
- 1/2 cup butterscotch chips
Let’s Make some Butterscotch Maple Cookies!
Step One: Cream the butter and shortening together in your mixer.
Step Two: Add sugars, syrup and seasonings. Mix well.
Step Three: Add egg yolks, vanilla and flour, mix until homogenous.
Step Four: Shape dough into flattened balls (approximately 2 tbsp per) and top with chips.
Step Five: Bake in the oven at 350 for 12-15 minutes.
That’s it. Pretty Simple.
These cookies will spread out some while cooking, so make sure to give them plenty of room. You can also add the chips right in to the cookie dough in your mixer. Just add them after all of the other ingredients are blended. My kids like to get to place them individually, and claim their favorite cookies (they do the same thing with blueberry pancakes).
