Real Life with Dad
Real Life with Dad is all about life, one day at a time. Join us as we navigate our way through life, food and travel on a shoestring budget, without sacrificing the things that make it worthwhile. Getting lost sometimes, but generally finding our way to those moments that make life worth smiling about.
About the Author
A Merchant Mariner by trade, Aaron spent years as a carnival dad. Working off in Alaska or the Caribbean for four weeks at a time, then returning to be Super-Dad for a month. No responsibilities to be anything but dad, and making up for lost time. Every so often he would pack a bag, press the pause button on “real life,” and go to work.
But life doesn’t pause like that. Birthdays, holidays and life events march forward whether you are there to see them or not. Fast-forward to getting divorced, laid off and run bankrupt. Suddenly becoming a full time everyday parent, carnival dad doesn’t work so well anymore. He is now trying to organize the chaos of two very high spirited (not so) small people, and build a life where he is comfortable just being regular old daily dad. A real life.
So follow along to find out how to make the most with a little. Finding ways to bring the world at large to the kids and find the experiences that open their hearts and minds. Years of running educational vessels on tight budgets have helped Aaron to make connections and learn tricks to deliver an amazing amount of adventure for little to no cost. Adaptation is key, and life is what you make of it.
