You’re probably wondering how this is all working out for me. Honestly, pretty well. I’ve been running a lot lately, and am more excited to get outside than I was. I even went for 1/2 marathon distance last weekend. and while pretty spent by the end, finished with my best time ever. I didn’t skip breakfast that morning, but went for a “smart snack” of greek yogurt and nuts. Energy has been my biggest boost so far. I don’t have a lot to lose in the weight department at the moment, but it is exciting to see results in muscle tone and wakefulness right off the bat.
What I really love about this book is that it isn’t about getting rid of food. It’s about understanding what you should be eating, and when, to let your body work for you. Yes, there are some things that you end up giving up, or only having on cheat days, like deep fried foods, highly processed – sugar infused foods and the like. But I personally don’t eat a lot of those anyway. I also decided put my baking to the test, and do a complete 180 in my bread-making.
Sprouted Grain Sourdough
Super Carbs are an important part of this diet. An no, that does not mean white bread and pasta. But sprouted grain breads are high on the list, and sprouted grain sourdough in particular. So, after a few weeks of waiting, my 50 lb bag of Organic Super Sprout Flour came in the mail, and I started to experiment with making sprouted grain breads (and sourdough starters). So far I think I’ve had good results. Check out the recipe!
We’ve been traditionally taught to avoid carbs, have an early dinner, and never eat before bed. But the fact is, the latest scientific research shows us this earlier model is not the most ideal. We can eat carbs, especially super carbs, and not have to be done with dinner before 6.
